Boasting one of Japan’s clearest waters, the lake’s distinct blue color is known as “Lake Shikotsu Blue.”
Every year from January to February, the “Chitose Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival” is held, featuring ice sculptures made by freezing the lake water, offering a fantastic view that is blue during the day and colorfully lit at night.

Chitose Winery, marked by its historic stone warehouse, offers unique wine made from Hokkaido’s specialty fruit, Haskap, as well as “Kita Wine” made from high-quality Yoichi grapes.
Located about 15 minutes by car from the airport, it’s an easily accessible spot perfect for souvenir shopping.

This is one of Japan’s largest freshwater fish aquariums located near the airport.
It features Japan’s first “Underwater Observation Zone,” where you can directly view the actual Chitose River through glass, allowing you to see the salmon run firsthand, which peaks in the autumn.
